Background
The French International School (FIS) of Hong Kong, officially known as Lycée Français International Victor-Segalen, was founded in 1963. FIS was the first school in Hong Kong to offer the International Baccalaureate in 1988, and it is now one of the largest French schools in Asia. Most students are French, but the school also has pupils from more than 45 nationalities.
FIS has two streams. Students in the French Stream are taught in French and study towards the Diplôme National du Brevet and the French Baccalauréat. Teaching in the International Stream is in English, but French is still emphasised. The International Stream is based on the English National Curriculum, and students go on to sit the Cambridge IGCSE and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
