Background

For many Australian and New Zealand families, Australian International School Hong Kong is a home away from home. More than 80 percent of students hold an Australian or New Zealand passport. The school is diverse nonetheless: its roughly 1,100 students represent more than 20 nationalities in total. The campus is a short walk from Kowloon Tong MTR station (Exit E).

Families can apply up to two years before their child's expected year of entry. AISHK admits students on a rolling basis from Reception to Year 10 but generally only accepts Year 11 applications until the end of the first term. Year 12 is not normally open to new students, although families with a query about a Year 11 or Year 12 place can contact the admissions office directly. AISHK gives priority on the waitlist first to siblings of current students, then to Australian and New Zealand passport holders. For Reception and Preparatory places, the school also weighs gender balance to keep classes even. AISHK may also ask non-native English speakers to sit an English-language assessment as part of the application.

Academic standards at Australian International School Hong Kong are demanding. The school also encourages personal growth in its students. AISHK runs more than 80 extracurricular activities. These include sports such as rugby, netball, cricket, and swimming, plus the performing arts, visual arts, STEM, and community programmes.
